AMELIA ROSENBERG WEINREB

Research and teaching at the crossroads of cultural anthropology, Israel Studies, and Jewish Studies

Teaching

I have extensive experience designing and teaching interactive, learner-centered courses in Israel Studies,  Jewish Studies, anthropology, and international development, in person and online. My orientation to teaching is not “What material am I going to cover today?” but “What are the students going to do with the material today?”

Teaching philosophy: Israel Studies

I facilitate analyses of Israel that expose students to multiple, competing narratives. My goal is for students to develop their own perspectives and command of material through individual and group projects and direct interactions with a variety of people living in Israel. I facilitate active learning by helping students find links with their existing knowledge to read, inquire, discuss, write and collaborate.

Get in touch if you’d like to learn more or if you would like support with course development or syllabus design.

Hands down one of the most important courses I have ever taken, not just because of the information I learned but because of the way I learned to handle the information. My analytical toolbelt expanded exponentially with every session. סr. Weinreb gracefully facilitated discussion, cultivating an online learning environment that fostered both connection and ingenuity as we engaged with the well-chosen course material. 10/10 course, 10/10 professor.

Dr. Weinreb is an amazing professor. I went into this class knowing almost nothing about Jerusalem, and I’m leaving with a good amount of knowledge סח things I had never heard of before…I’ve learned so much, and she supported us through every step of the process. She is clearly passionate and knowledgeable about the subject, and she really cares about making sure we understand the multiple perspectives that surround Israeli issues. She encouraged everyone to participate in discussions and made sure everyone’s opinions were heard.
